Recently we have received Artist Updates of past winners of the Deutsche Oper Berlin Award.

Paull-Anthony Keightley – bass-baritone (2017)
Paull-Anthony commenced this Award at Deutsche Oper Berlin in September and with a few days’ notice and one hour of rehearsal sang Sciarrone in Tosca with Marcello Alvarez, Erwin Schrott and Anja Harteros. He is currently preparing a Knight in Lohengrin, which is performed in October and November. December schedule sees Paull-Anthony again as the Doctor in La Traviata and Sciarrone in Tosca, this time with acclaimed American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role. He will also sing the Ufficiale in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, the same role (and costume) as Sam Roberts-Smith last season.

Sam Roberts-Smith – baritone (2016)
Sam Roberts-Smith was the first winner of the Deutsche Oper Berlin Award and was a wonderful ambassador for the Foundation. After completing the 2017 / 2018 Season, Sam is back in Australia and will be performing on the BRAVO cruise of the Performing Arts in November 2018 before returning to Deutsche Oper Berlin as a guest artist, performing in Andrea Chénier alongside tenor superstar Roberto Alagna.
